Although I have been quite on Grahamsblog.com front, I have been far from as quiet generally.
I have infact been avery busy indeed. Getting to grips with various other Blog platforms including the brilliant Square Space, Movable Type and WordPress.org also in creating my own themes and sites with CSS, XHTML etc. There are big plans in the pipeline, some are already in the pipe.
I have thrown a lot of time and energy into a new site, which has moved from Typepad blog to a self-hosted Wordpress installation. The template has been dramatically changed and enhanced.
The first big change will be the location of this Blog. I have been unsure as to if I will be carrying on with this Blog at all. But I think I small revamp, and a small change in direction is all it needs. Possibly even a name change...
So for this reason, with my technical skills rapidly growing, I am moving www.grahamsblog.com up in the world.
This move isn’t because of unhappiness with Typepad – it’s a great service, and I’d thoroughly recommend it to virtually anyone – but simply because I want to integrate my blog into some other projects that I want to host on my site. Also, as someone who is supposed to know something about technology (don’t laugh at the back there) I think it’s time I delved into hosting my own stuff again.
Once I confirm the move, you may or may not want to update any bookmarks and so on. This site will remain as
an archive, although I’ll also ultimately import the posts from here
over there. If you’re subscribed to this site via FeedBurner, you
shouldn’t need to do anything - FeedBurner should automatically point
you to the new feed. However, if you’re still using the old direct RSS,
you’ll need to resubscribe. Once I have made the move, I will know what is what with regards to RSS and general syndication.
There is a downfall to the moving of blog platform, mostly to do with the permalinks, booked marked URL's etc. But I have weighed up the pro's and con's of this and have decided that it's simply what I want. If it means I loose some Google places and mess up some peoples bookmarks then so be it.
Al this will take place in the next few days or so.
This Blog is reactivated and will once again be filled with fresh content on a more regular basis.
I can only say that my father's passing earlier last year really shook me up in every conceivable way. And loosing my way in most things last year was the norm.
I am feeling a lot more confident now, the last few months I have really picked myself up and have thrown myself into learning as much as I can about Web Sites, Blogging and all things related.
GrahamsBlog will still cover topics to do with Depression and other similar issues, but not to the extent I did. My focus is not on this, but on other more positive aspects.
I will post a update once the move has taken place.
Graham
